I believe this piece was created right around 1999. At that time the forefront of my mind was dominated by the feeling that I was looking into a black hole. My sight was completely absorbed by feelings of isolation. That all efforts leading to this point had been for naught.

The Calla Lilli’s were hallmarks of the death that I was experiencing and the green cloth represented envy. Envy for the other choices I could have made.

It was a dark period for me.

This piece survived the 2023 fire because it was in a storage unit. I never intended others to see it but now, it’s a representation of times and feelings past. I have precious few of those so, here it is.
